After seeing all the photos and trailers for this brand new adaptation of Stephen King’s first novel Carrie, I’m starting to think that star Chloe Grace Moretz will spend the entire film covered in dripping blood.
I’m not familiar with either Brian de Palma’s version from 1976 (which I’m told is a classic) or the actual novel itself. Horror isn’t my thing, and to be honest, the genre seems to be so diluted by a lot of cheaply made blood, sweat and sex fests that finding the good ones is a challenge.
The buzz behind the new version of Carrie, directed by Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry), is so far very positive. The film stars Moretz as Carrie White, a high school outcast who is sheltered by her deeply religious mother, played by Julianne Moore. You could have sold me right there. The story turns terror-ific as Carrie unleashes a powerful telekinetic forces on her small town when, at her senior prom, is pushed too far.
Here’s the latest picture. Carrie opens everywhere on October 18th.
