Once again, the internet has been flooded with more vintage Star Wars material, mostly due to the folks behind the franchise’s official YouTube channel. Hope they have a lot more stuff in the pipeline, because 2015 is a long way’s away!
You’ll notice that the name of the film in the trailer is actually Revenge of the The Jedi, but was changed last minute because George Lucas didn’t consider the thought of revenge as part of the Jedi’s philosophy. Of course, by that time, thousands of posters and other merchandise had been released with the former title. Lucasfilm stopped the shipping and sold the remaining stock of 6,800 posters to Star Wars fan club members for $9.50. Now, they’re worth anywhere between $250-500, depending on their condition.
This trailer features the completed Revenge of the Jedi logo, shows Luke wielding a blue lightsaber (instead of the green seen in the final cut), and a quick shot of Obi-Wan Kenobi before “spirit” effects were added.
