If you go back and watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer, you can tell why the show had such lasting appeal with fans. The Joss Whedon series, which was based on the horrid feature film of the same name, seemed like a more refined product; a criss-cross of geek pleasures, adolescent rebellion and kung-fu.
Sarah Michelle Gellar was fantastic, but she wasn’t exactly a honed karate professional. Having recently re-watched most of the series on Netflix a few months back, I found it pretty obvious where the stunt doubles would sub in and out of the frame. They were classic fight scenes. When the doubles were in, the fights were flawless.
The talented team behind these sequences were Sophia Crawford and Jeff Pruitt. Watch 30 minutes of VHS transfers below, in which these two (along with most of the main cast) talk about what takes to bring their brand of action to the small-screen.
