Millennium Films has released the first trailer for Charlie Countryman, an unconventional love story filled with twists and turns (read that in a trailer voice). The film stars Shia LaBeouf, Evan Rachel Wood, the perma-scary Mads Mikkelsen, Melissa Leo, Rupert Grint and Vincent D’Onofrio. Directed by Fredrik Bond, this hyper-European tale looks like it’s been shot beautifully.
I’ve never really questioned Shia LaBeouf’s acting talent. Maybe your first instinct is to wonder why Sam Witwicky is in this movie, looking like your ultra-hipster cousin? The bottom line does not concern his skill or talent. It’s about his choices. Will Spielberg’s adopted son be able to strike a balance between extreme independent drama and the big paycheques? He must choose…wisely.
Check out the trailer below. Charlie Countryman will receive a limited release on November 15th.
When his late mother appears in a vision and tells him to go to Bucharest, Charlie immediately boards a plane across the Atlantic. But when he meets a fellow passenger, Charlie finds himself with another promise to fulfill. Charlie does so – and falls head over heels in love with Gabi, a beautiful musician. However, a vicious gangster has already laid claim to Gabi, and has no intention of letting her go. Determined to protect her, Charlie enters into the hallucinatory, Romanian underworld filled with violence and, strangely enough, love.
