When I find out that Cormac McCarthy, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Road & No Country For Old Men, has written an original screenplay that Ridley Scott is directing, my anticipation meter goes haywire. Then, to find out the cast that’s been hired is as good as it is for The Counselor, I begin to really believe we’ve got something special coming down the pipeline.
Scott’s newest project stars Michael Fassbender as a lawyer who thinks he can enter the drug business without consequences, only to become sucked deeper into that world. Joining his spiral into darkness are Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz. Today, we’ve got three new clips and a brand new trailer that showcases the film’s tone and rich dialogue that only McCarthy can write.
The new trailer reveals very few exact details about the film’s story, other than Fassbender plays a lawyer and that when he turns bad, there are disastrous repercussions. The Counselor is due in theatres on October 25th.
