20th Century Fox has released three new clips and a featurette for director Shawn Levy’s The Internship. The plot centers around Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson as two old-school out-of-work salesman who attempt to restart their careers in a digital age with an internship at Google.
Any time Vaughn and Wilson are together there are going to be some funny scenes. The success of The Internship hinges on whether or not there are as many laughs as 2005′s Wedding Crashers, because that`s where the bar is set, fairly or not.
I’m inclined to think not, primarily because their frat boy type of humor generally doesn’t age well. Everything I’ve seen so far hints that this will be funny but remembered more for its less-than-subtle Google product placement.
The supporting cast includes Max Minghella, Rose Byrne, Dylan O’Brien, B.J. Novak, Aasif Mandvi and Jessica Szohr.
Billy (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Owen Wilson) are salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital world. Trying to prove they are not obsolete, thet defy the odds by talking their way into a coveted internship at Google, along with a battalion of brillian college students. But, gaining entrance to this utopia is only half the battle. Now they must compete with a group of the nation’s most elite, tech-savvy geniuses to prove that necessity really is the mother of re-invention.
