The Simpsons Pay Homage to Famed Japanese Filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki

Hayao Miyazaki’s influence spreads far and wide.  He’s often compared to the likes of Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg.  Though primarily known as an animator and director, Miyazaki was a manga artist, illustrator, producer and screenwriter.  In September 2013, he announced that he was going to retire from the business, citing age and industry demands as his reasons.

The Simpsons, being the longest running animated comedy series of all time, decided to pay homage to Miyazaki’s work spanning the last six decades.

Here’s a compilation of his work, if you’re unfamiliar.
