The Japanese Trailer for ‘The Wolverine’ Sharpens Our Claws With New Some Footage

The fact that the main story arc guiding The Wolverine takes place in Japan will no doubt mean solid international returns at the box office.  In preparation for that, Twentieth Century Fox has released a Japanese trailer, which features some new footage!

According to director James Mangold, his vision was influenced by 13 Assassins and Musashi Miyamoto’s Samurai Trilogy, classics of Japanese cinema.  Coupled with Frank Miller’s dark plot of violent self-discovery, I think Logan’s journey in The Wolverine will be one to behold.

The Wolverine opens July 26, and stars Hugh Jackman, Brian Tee, Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rila Fukushima, Hal Yamanouchi and Famke Janssen.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern-day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality. Story by Christopher McQuarrie.
