In this contemporary musical adaptation of Langston Hughes’ play, Black Nativity aims at joining the ranks of such classic holiday films as It’s A Wonderful Life and Miracle of 34th Street. The movie has been adapted for the screen and directed by Kasi Lemmons, the mastermind behind the critically acclaimed Talk To Me.
The movie stars an impressive cast, featuring Jennifer Hudson, Forest Whitaker, Mary J. Blige, Angela Basset and Tyrese Gibson. The film’s lead is played by newbie Jacob Latimore, in his first major appearance.
Black Nativity will hit theatres on November 27th, just in time to put you in the holiday mood.
The holiday musical drama BLACK NATIVITY follows Langston (Jacob Latimore), a street-wise teen from Baltimore raised by a single mother, as he journeys to New York City to spend the Christmas holiday with his estranged relatives Reverend Cornell and Aretha Cobbs (Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett).
