Set Photos & Video From The Set of The ‘Godzilla’ Reboot

Here are a bunch of new images and video from the set of Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla reboot. Production has been underway for only a couple of months, aiming towards a May 16th, 2014 release date.

The fact that this film is being made is nothing short of a miracle.  In 2004, which marked the 50th anniversary of the Godzilla film franchise, Toho Co., Ltd. announced that it would not produce any films featuring the Godzilla character for ten years. Director Yoshimitsu Banno had secured the rights from Toho to make an IMAX 3D short film based on a remake of the Godzilla story. Banno and producer Kenji Okuhira then joined with American 3-D Cinematographer and Visual Effects Supervisor Peter Anderson who brought on producer Brian Rogers and the project was then re-negotiated with Toho as a full-length 3-D feature film. But after several years of problems with raising needed the money need to bring a fully realized film to IMAX, the team approached Legendary Pictures in 2009.

This new film stars Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, David Strahairn and Juliette Binoche.  Edwards directs a script from Max Borenstein, Dave Callaham, Frank Darabont, based on a story by David S. Goyer.
