Don’t expect any new plot details revealed by this trailer. The footage seen here is all action; the kind we love best when it involves The Wolverine. There will be lots of sword-to-claw combat in James Mangold’s feature, which hits theatres July 26th. Samurai swords flash in front of the screen at blinding speeds, just the way I like it.
What’s new in this trailer is The Silver Samurai, the film’s primary villain. Actor Will Yun Lee plays “Kenuichio Harada [who is]is the illegitimate son of Shingen Yashida. He is a Japanese mutant with the power to charge almost anything, most notably his katana, with mutant energy (described as a tachyon field) which enables it to slice through any known substance except adamantium.” Also featured in the film is Viper, a secondary villain played by Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova. She can be seen peeling her face off near the end of the trailer. You can read up more about her here.
