Sony has released a new international trailer for director Kimberly Peirce’s adaptation of Steven King’s classic Carrie. The film centers around a shy girl (Chloe Grace Moretz), shunned by her classmates and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who releases her newly developed telekinetic powers after she is pushed too far by her peers.
I don’t think anyone was clamoring for a Carrie remake, but it’s coming, and full credit to everyone involved cause it looks good. If you’re going to remake a film, this how you do it – you hire elite talent. Moretz is arguably the top young actress of this generation, Moore is a 4-time Academy Award nominee and both of Peirce’s outings (Boys Don’t Cry and Stop-Loss) were impressive.
The supporting cast includes Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde and Ansel Elgort.
A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloe Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, Carrie is directed by Kimberly Peirce with a screenplay by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
