LEGO, cut-outs, Tinker-Toys… you name it, nearly every medium has been employed to create do-it-yourself trailers. That is, until Minecraft.
For those of you who don’t know what Minecraft is, it’s a “open world” video game, also known as a “sand box” video game, with which every user can interact, change, adapt, evolve, etc. using building blocks. It’s known for it’s blocky, pixelated graphics (that no one seems to really care about in the competitive business of hyper-realistic precedents set by The Call of Duties and Bioshocks, etc.). Needless to say, Minecraft’s popularity is so strong that I doubt it’ll be going anywhere anytime soon.
Here’s the “Mine of Steel” trailer, followed by the shot-for-shot comparison. It’s flawless, with a perfect combination of amateur charm and impeccable attention to detail. Creation credit goes to Steelehouse.
