I think those who have been critical of or receptive to Zack Snyder’s vision that guided Man of Steel can both agree that Superman can function without the red undies[!]. In addition to removing the strong-man tights of old from Kal-El’s wardrobe, the film’s design team worked hard to make the many visual elements of their film – cinematography, costumes, Krypton, etc. – powerfully unique. Though the film’s storytelling may have been lacklustre, all of the above helped win me over. At the very least, it made a statement that these filmmakers were trying to do something different.
A bunch of concept art pieces for Kal-El, Zod, Faora and the House of El shield hit the web today. They must have been the final drafts, being that they strongly resemble the film’s final product. Check Warren Manser’s incredible work below!
