In this featurette for Thor: The Dark World, you’ll learn why things are changing in Asgard. When the film hits theatres, Thor’s homeworld will be shaken to its core. Not only will the lives of its citizens be at risk, but director Alan Taylor has drastically changed the way Asgard appears.
Compared to Thor which depicted Asgard as colourful, golden and bright, Taylor will be taking the polish out of the shine. He’s clearly borrowed some production design from his work on Game of Thrones and Rome to define…The Dark World. In a recent interview with Cinema Blend, he had this to say about the realm’s new look:
“In my mind this is an ancient, ancient culture that highly reveres the horse and the culture of the horse. We still use fountain pens because we think they’re really cool – it’s not like we all use laser pens. So I think there’s a living culture that keeps these things. To me the defining thing was that Thor is a superhero amongst many superheroes, but the thing that makes him different is the thing that should be featured in the movie. And that is that he’s also a warrior prince from ancient culture.”
Check out this featurette and learn more about Asgard and how Taylor has shot most of this film on exterior locations, upping the ante for this sequel. Thor: The Dark World hits theatres on November 8th.
