Brian De Palma hasn’t had a whole lot of critical success in the last fifteen years, but that doesn’t stop actors and actresses from wanting to work with him. I think it’d be safe to say that De Palma hasn’t made a universally enjoyed film since Carlito’s Way or Mission: Impossible way back in 1993 and 1996, respectively. His latest film, which received mainly negative reviews at TIFF 2013, stars Noomi Rapace and Rachel McAdams in a film about obsession, betrayal and seduction.
Personally, this trailer makes the film look like a 1990s Red Shoe Diaries made with a big budget. Watch the trailer and decide for yourself if this movie would be your kinda thing.
Passion opens in theatres on August 30th.
A Berlin-based advertising executive Christine engages in a professional struggle with her assistant Isabelle, as the former continually stifles Isabelle’s attempts to further her career. After Christine takes credit for one of her assistant’s ideas, the struggle enters the personal realm and Isabelle commences an affair with Christine’s husband while also colliding with an equally disgruntled colleague, Dani. Christine then devises a scheme that involves sexual advances to overcome Isabelle.
