How The Opening To Pacific Rim Was Created By Guillermo Del Toro’s VFX Company, Mirada

Mirada, Guillermo del Toro’s VFX company, conceptualized and created the majority of incredible visual effects for the director’s big summer Kaiju blockbuster, Pacific Rim.  As is always the thing to remember about these companies, the staggering number of hours required to create the sequences that wow audiences these days should be acknowledged.  If you were impressed by the grand scale of Pacific Rim, you best give thanks to these guys.

Check out this VFX featurette detailing the company’s efforts to create the film’s opening sequence, which introduces us to the Kaiju.  It’s never something a mere three and a half minutes can truly capture, but it gives you a sense of the Befores and Afters.
