Director Bryan Singer took to Twitter yesterday to post an exciting new image from X-Men: Days of Future Past. Halle Berry has become the first lucky actor of the original X-Men team-on-film to show off the new uniform… and hair-do.
Filming recently began on the seventh instalment in the beloved Marvel franchise in Montréal. Technically, it will be the second time that the cast of First Class will be featured with member(s) of Singer’s original superhero ensemble. Hugh Jackman’s cameo in First Class was brief, hilarious, and allowed for Days of Future Past to happen organically.
Among the original cast returning are Sir Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Sir Ian McKellan (Magneto), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Ellen Page (Shadowcat), Halle Berry (Storm), Daniel Cudmore (Colossus) and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman).
Days of Future Past won’t be out until 2014. It will be the first X-Men film to be shot in the 3D format.
Fun fact about Halle Berry/Storm: Halle Berry had initially decided not to reprise her role as Storm for this film, citing lack of character development in the previous two installments and a tense relationship with director Bryan Singer. However, after Singer’s departure and suffering a major box-office flop with Catwoman, Berry agreed to return on the condition that her role be expanded. Consequently, in this film Storm replaces Cyclops and Professor Xavier as team leader of the X-Men (which is keeping with the comics, where for a time Storm served as team leader in Xavier’s absence).
