Transformers 4 is well into production as I write this, whether you like it or not. This
continuation, reboot, weird combination of both is exactly what you wanted, isn’t it? Another Michael Bay slug-bot fest. Yay.
While I understand that Paramount and Hasbro have made piles of money on the first three films, but aren’t they running the risk of burying this one? Line up the first three on a quality curve, and the graph pretty much plateaus in the negative. Fans of the original TV series were not pleased that Bay had allowed this franchise to traverse into many wrong, often silly directions. Some might say that the Transformers are silly concepts themselves, so why were so many turned off by Bay’s vision? Well, yeah, they are silly, but then you’d have to classify just about ever comic book / fantasy / superhero into that category. There are ways to adapt a TV series that can be both action packed and fan-friendly. By bringing back Michael Bay for a fourth film, the studios might just turn the remaining fans off this franchise forever.
Well, like I said, this sequel is coming whether we / you / I like it or not. Bay recently posted “the completely upgraded, custom-built” car designs for three of the Transformers on his official website. One is obviously Optimus Prime, but the other two have been only rumoured as redesigned concepts for Sideswipe or Bumblebee.
What do you think of the designs? Let us know in the comments.
Transformers 4 stars Mark Wahlberg, Kelsey Grammar, Nicola Peltz, and T.J. Miller. It currently scheduled for a June 27th, 2014 release.
