Summit has released a new full trailer and poster for director Neil Burger‘s (Limitless, The Illusionist) upcoming futuristic thriller Divergent. The film is an adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name by Veronica Roth, takes place in a society where people are divided into factions based on their personalities. Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior (Shailene Woodley) is a young girl who doesn’t fit into any of the pre-assigned factions and faces grave consequences due to her status as a ‘Divergent.’
Let the comparisons begin, the young adult female protagonist adaptation genre can be a huge hit for studios, if they find an audience. For every ‘Hunger Games’ or ‘Twilight’ there is ‘Beautiful Creatures’ or ‘The Host’. I see more Hunger Games in this trailer than anything else and that’s not a bad thing.
This is a random complaint, but why the ridiculous amount of photoshop in the poster? I don’t think a poster is going to swing anyone into watching a movie or not, but it looks so fake and cheesy.
The supporting cast includes Theo James, Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Tony Goldwyn, Ashley Judd and Kate Winslet.
