Sony Pictures has released four clips from action-director Roland Emmerich’s upcoming White House Down. The plot centers around a rejected Secret Service applicant (Channing Tatum) who must save the President (Jamie Foxx) when a paramilitary group invades the White House.
The film is being sold to audiences as a throw-back big budget special effects driven summer action film, which is exactly how Emmerich made a name for himself in Hollywood. I’m kinda looking forward to a movie that isn’t attempting to be taken seriously and is embracing tongue-and-cheek action.
The supporting cast includes Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins and James Woods.
In Columbia Pictures’ White House Down, Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country.
