Five New Pictures from Spike Lee’s Oldboy Remake

Whenever Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake sneaks into conversation with my film geek friends, there’s always an sense of reservation.  Will Lee be able to recreate one of the greatest revenge scenarios of all time?  Time will tell.  Maybe we should look to the one and only comment Park Chan-wook, the director of the original, made about the film.  When star Josh Brolin approached Chan-wook to get his blessing, the director simply said, “You and Spike make your own film, don’t remake ours.”  I wonder if they’ll stick to that.

FilmDistrict has release five new pictures from the film to share with you today, which feature Brolin and co-star Elisabeth Olsen.  Oldboy is due in theatres on November 27th.

OLDBOY is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.
