Paramount Vantage has released the first trailer, two clips and new images have been released for Academy award winning writer/director Alexander Payne‘s Nebraska. The film stars Bruce Dern as a man who believes he’s won a million dollars in a sweepstakes after receiving a letter in the mail, and wrangles in his son (Will Forte) into taking him to Nebraska to claim his fortune. Complications arise when everyone in his town believes he’s already a millionaire.
Interesting premise, interesting cast and one of the most critical acclaimed directors of the last 10 years. If anyone else was directing this I don’t think it would be on my radar but I’m interested. Bruce Dern has been an underrated character actor for decades and Will Forte is one of the best SNL performers in recent memory. There is a lot of talent here and maybe it sneaks into the Oscar race.
The supporting cast includes Stacy Keach, June Squibb and Bob Odenkirk.
After receiving a sweepstakes letter in the mail, a cantankerous father (Bruce Dern) thinks he’s struck it rich, and wrangles his son (Will Forte) into taking a road trip to claim the fortune. Shot in black and white across four states, Nebraska tells the stories of family life in the heartland of America.
