Director Spike Jonze returns to the promotional circuit with the first trailer for his new project, Her. The trailer suggests that this will be very much in the same vein as Jonze’s other projects, which include Adaptation, Being John Malkovich or Where the Wild Things Are. The acclaimed writer-director has always had a strong voice and style, managing to combine elements of heartfelt drama with lighter, quirky moments. If you’re a fan of his work, Her looks like it will be an other solid outing for Jonze.
The film stars Joaquin Phoenix as a divorced husband and father, who falls in love with the voice of a computer. When I first watched this trailer, I had thought Rashida Jones was voicing the sexy artificial intelligence but instead, Jonze hired famed alto Scarlett Johansson. The cast also includes Amy Adams, Olivia Wilde, Chris Pratt and Rooney Mara.
It will receive a limited release on November 20th.

To Theordore’s surprise, a romantic relationship develops between him and his operating system. This unconventional love story blends science-fiction and romance in a sweet tale that explores the nature of love and the ways that technology isolates and connects us all.
