The first trailer has surfaced online for director Brad Furman’s (The Lincoln Lawyer) gambling thriller Runner, Runner. The plot centers around a Princeton student (Justin Timberlake) cheated out of his tuition money playing online poker who tracks down the owner (Ben Affleck) of the corrupt site, but is lured into the business, becoming a protege. Their relationship begins to splinter as the FBI begins to converge on the pair.
This trailer is pretty compelling. We get to see a lot of Timberlake as the lead, and things take off when Affleck shows up shining as the film’s antagonist. I think this the first time in history an Academy Award winner followed up his Oscar with a role that requires feeding people to crocodiles.
The supporting cast includes Gemma Arterton, Anthony Mackie, David Costabile, Sam Palladio, Ben Schwartz and Louis Lombardi.
