Magnolia has released the first trailer for writer/director Joe Swanberg’s upcoming dramedy Drinking Buddies. The film centers around a pair of co-workers at a brewery (Olivia Wilde and Jake Johnson), always drinking and flirting but each of them is in a committed relationship. A lot of the film was improvised and was well received when it premiered at SXSW.
Everyone knows Olivia Wilde as one of the most beautiful women in the world whose film career hasn’t really taken off yet. Which doesn’t make sense to me, cause she’s been good-great in everything and she’s sooo charming on-screen. Jake Johnson (sporting an awesome beard) has been excelling on Fox’s Good Girl and scene stealing performances in 21 Jump Street and No Strings Attached seems like he is just scratching the surface of his leading man potential.
Very exciting; I can’t remember the last great romantic/comedy/drama and maybe this is it.
Kate (Olivia Wilde) and Luke (Jake Johnson) work together at a craft brewery. They have one of those friendships that feels like it could be something more. But Kate is with Chris (Ron Livingston), and Luke is with Jill (Anna Kendrick). Jill wants to know if Luke is ready to talk about marriage. The answer to that question becomes crystal clear when Luke and Kate unexpectedly find themselves alone for a weekend. DRINKING BUDDIES is written and directed by Joe Swanberg and stars Olivia Wilde, Jake Johnson, Anna Kendrick, and Ron Livingston.
