Like many well-known scribes before her, Diablo Cody joins the ranks of screenwriters turned directors. The Juno writer is making her directorial debut with Paradise (formerly known as Lamb of God), an off-beat coming-of-age tale set in Las Vegas.
The film stars Julianne Hough, a young conservative Christian who endures a crisis of faith after a plan crash. Left scarred by the accident, she sets off to experience the sinful pleasures of the secular kind. Joining her on this journey are Russell Brand and Octavia Spencer as the befriended enablers. An altered Nick Offerman and reliable Holly Hunter play her parents.
Paradise will grace the screens at a few festivals, including those in New York and Toronto, before hitting theatres on October 18th.

After a nearly fatal accident, 21-year-old Lamb Mannerheim (Hough) is beginning to realize that the world is much bigger than her small, God-fearing Montana town. Armed with a big, fat insurance payout and a checklist of untried sins, there’s only one place for her first taste of temptation…Las Vegas! And, with the help of a few new friends (Brand and Spencer), Lamb embarks on an oddball odyssey of lost souls, broken faith and cheap cocktails…a true journey of the heart.
