Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for director Paul Greengrass’s action thriller Captain Phillips. The film is based on a true story and stars Tom Hanks as real-life ship captain of the Maersk Alabama Richard Phillips, who allowed himself to be taken hostage by Somali pirates in exchange for the safety of his crew.
The trailer focuses on the hijacking of the ship, the first American cargo shipped to be hijacked in two hundred years and seems tailor-made for Greengrass’s quick cut style of filmmaking.
