Warner Brothers has released the first poster and trailer for director Noam Murro’s 300 sequel, 300: Rise of an Empire. The film is based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes and centers around a Greek general attempting to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war, pitting him against mortal-turned-god Xerxes and Artemisia, commander of the Persian navy
I don’t know anyone longing for a 300 sequel, but Hollywood loves to make sequels for films grossing over $400 million worldwide. It looks like Murro has captured the same tone as Zack Snyder’s 2007, film which means lots of muscles, slow-motion action and CGI blood.
The cast includes Sullivan Stapleton, Rodrigo Santoro, Eva Green, Lena Headey and David Wenham.
Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.
“300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
