The first teaser trailer for writer/director Gareth Evans martial arts sequel The Raid 2: Berandal has surfaced online and its intense. The film picks up two hours after the end of The Raid: Redemption. Police officer Rama (Iko Uwais) goes undercover to infiltrate the ranks of a Jakarta criminal syndicate, in an effort to protect his family and expose corruption within his own police force.
Filming took place over 100 days and the sequel was recently picked up by Sony Pictures Classics for North American distribution. The trailer hints at a larger scope but makes one thing clear the action will not suffer. Watching Rama go to town on a chalk outline gives me goosebumps and the trailer also reminds me why I hate escalators.
The supporting cast for the sequel includes Arifin Putra, Alex Abad, Oka Antara, Tio Pakusadewo, Julie Estelle, Cecep Arif Rahman, Cok Simbara, Yayan Ruhian, Matsuda Ryuhei, Endo Kenichi, and Kitamura Kazuki.
