Back in August 2013, Fox announced at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour that they would be developing a remake of the BBC series Broadchurch for American television. The major US network will be breaking format a little from its standard 24-26 episode season to a simplified 10 episode arc.
In a very wise move, they’ll be bringing in original components of the British series, namely David Tennant as the lead and director James Strong. Anna Gunn from AMC’s Breaking Bad will co-star with Tennant as another detective (a role originally played by Olivia Colman).
The show was created by Chris Chibnall. Filming is currently taking place in British Columbia. It’s slated for a release during Fox’s 2014-2015 season.
