First Image from Jason Reitman’s Labor Day With Josh Brolin & Kate Winslet

Jason Reitman has been hard at work putting together his next project, Labor Day, since mid-2011.  The film, which is based on Joyce Maynard’s novel of the same name, will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.  Today, we get our firs glimpse at his film with a new image featuring stars Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin.

Set in 1987 over the late summer holiday weekend, the film focuses on Adele, a divorced single mom and her son (Gattlin Griffith of Changling) and a mysterious man they encounter while on a shopping trip.  When they meet him, he’s bleeding badly and pleads for a ride.  Against all judgment, they give him one.  As they learn more and more about the man’s past, their options for escape become limited.

Labor Day also stars Tobey Maguire, Clark Gregg, JK Simmons, Brooke Smith and James Van Der Beek.  Reitman also wrote the film, which is produced by Lianne Halfon, Russell Smith and Helen Estabrook.

It will receive a limited release on December 25th.
