The mastermind and creative brute force known as David Ayer (Training Day, End of Watch) has tweeted the first official image from his WWII actioner Fury. The image features most of the primary cast sitting atop a tank (yes, this is a WWII movie about tanks! Can you feel the awesome?). These actors are Brad Pitt (plays a character named WarDaddy), Shia LaBeouf, Michael Peña, Logan lerman and Scott Eastwood.
Maybe it’s just me, but for the types of films Ayer directs, the fact that he tweets in the first place seems against-type. “King Kong ain’t got sh!t on my Twitter account!”
I digress. Will this film rejuvenate the WWII / Tank genre? Ayer hopes to. In a statement, Ayer said
[The story] takes place in 1945 as the Nazi regime collapses and the five man crew of an American tank called Fury battles a desperate German army. [I hope it will] bring tank combat to life in a way that lands with a modern audience.
Fury will blast and roll its way into theatres on November 14th, 2014.
