Lionsgate has a released the first full trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire during its Comic-Con panel over the weekend. The highly anticipated sequel finds victors Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) in the wake of their Victory Tour as a rebellion begins to stir and the pair become even larger targets of the Capital.
Former music video director Francis Lawrence takes over directing duties from Gary Ross and has quite the challenge on his hands. The first book was by far the best in the series and quite a few changes are going to have to be made in order for Catching Fire to live up the expectations set by the first film.
I like how this trailer sets up the growing tension of the stirring rebellion and sets up this films Hunger Games known as the Quarter Quell without actually showing any of its action-sequences. Not that there was ever much doubt but it looks like this will make a ton of cash.
The supporting cast includes Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell)—a competition that could change Panem forever.
