To be honest, this is the first time I’ve heard about this project beyond little snippets. And it seems that Showtime is refusing to give us a deeper glimpse into its horror show, that’s set to feature the likes of Dracula, Dorian Gray, Frankenstein and more.
Showtime has never been afraid to break new ground with different projects. The show, created by Skyfall & Gladiator screenwriter John Logan who co-produces with Sam Mendes, is still mostly underwraps. As you can see from the trailer, the series will feature plenty of creepy scenes with lots of creepy people. If you’re a horror fan, this will be in your wheelhouse. Showtime President David Nevins says the show will be “very realistic and very grounded, not Bela Lugosi. All exist in human form in turn-of-century London”.
Originally, each episode of the show was to be directed by Sam Mendes, but scheduling conflicts have prevented this. However, this hasn’t stopped Logan – who is a self-professed fan of literary monsters – from writing every episode in the series.
The show is scheduled to debut on May 11th, 2014. It stars Josh Hartnett (where’s he been all this time?), Eva Green, Billie Piper, Rory Kinnear, Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney and Harry Treadaway.
