Dreamworks Pictures’ upcoming adaptation of EA’s video game street racing franchise Need for Speed is now in production. The film centers around a street racer who was framed by a wealthy business associate and joins a cross country race with revenge in mind. When his ex-partner learns of the plan, he places a bounty on his head as the race begins.
It was only a matter of time until studios started making their own ‘Fast and Furious-esque’ film,s and teaming up with a massively successful video game franchise seems like a great way to do it.
The behind-the-scenes featurette focuses on how cameras caught all the action on the road, while director Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) promises an ‘accurate and authentic’ portrayal of ‘real car-racing culture.’ I hope they don’t go too accurate; if there is one thing we’ve learned from the Fast and Furious franchise, fans don’t necessarily want authentic in their car movies.
The cast includes Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, Harrison Gilbertson, Scott ‘Kid Cudi’ Mescudi, Michael Keaton and Dakota Johnson
