Even though The Expendables 2 hasn’t arrived in theatres yet and no official green light has been given for a third film, its producers are already putting together a wish list. If you thought there were enough elder statesmen showcased in The Expendables 2… think again. It looks like they want to raise the bar even higher in a third movie. In an interview with Total Film, producer Avi Lerner says:
We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys. We’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name-we’ve got Nicolas Cage.
We’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return].
Somewhere Mel Gibson, Jackie Chan and Steven Segal must checking their email and making sure they have cell phone service. I would also vote for Chow Yun-Fat and Michelle Yeoh. And since this is dreamland…someone really should call Sean Connery.
The Expendables 2 opens in theaters Friday and the cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth, Jean Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
