Director Bryan Singer has taken to Twitter yet again to show us what’s going on behind the scenes of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Though this is the second film in the continued X-Men franchise (with James McAvoy as Prof. X & Michael Fassbender as Magneto), the story arc will feature a number of the original cast members from the first three films.
Singer tweeted the following image of the lovely Ellen Page, who reprises her role of Kitty Pryde (as seen in The Last Stand). Not much is going on in this picture, but it’s nice to see that Kitty will be returning for [hopefully]a more fleshed out role. Also, if you’ve got a keen eye, you’ll notice the guy she’s looking up at is none other than Shawn Ashmore, aka. Iceman.
X-Men: Days of Future Past opens July 18, 2014. It stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Daniel Cudmore, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing and Adan Canto.
The storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde, whose mind traveled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men. She succeeds in her mission and returns to the future, but despite her success, the future timeline still exists as an alternative timeline rather than as the actual future.
