After D23 this past week, Vin Diesel became a hot topic of conversation after he “strongly suggested” that he will be voicing Groot, the walking-talking superhero tree from Guardians of The Galaxy. Now, Marvel has not confirmed or denied this – hence the quotations to about Diesel’s subtle “announcement”. And by subtle, I mean that he changed his ever-popular Facebook profile picture to an image of Groot.
Note: This is still unconfirmed but many other sources on the web have been reporting this so, we’ll just have to wait and see if its all a bunch of hooey or if contracts are just waiting to be signed. I could definitely dig Diesel’s voice. I’d call that pretty great casting. However in the comics, Groot doesn’t say much – just his own name. Is Diesel humble enough to accept that sort of minimalist gig? Hm.
Back to Riddick. We’ve seen plenty of footage from the film so far, though all the trailer seem to be just variations of the pervious. Such is the case with the latest, which hit the web last week. If you were to compare the Red Band trailer with this, they’d be pretty identical. Minus the gore, of course.
Riddick opens in theatres September 6th.
Left for dead on a sun-scorched planet, Riddick finds himself up against an alien race of predators. Activating an emergency beacon alerts two ships: one carrying a new breed of mercenary, the other captained by a man from Riddick’s past.
