A Dark & Stormy New Poster for ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

As The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is just finishing up its filming schedule, Lionsgate Films have released a brand new poster.  It’s dark, brooding and reminds us of…The Lion King? The creative direction seems to take Katniss’ role as tribute a little too literally.  You can be the judge, with a side-by-side comparison below.  Either way, it’s a powerful poster that symbolizes triumph over great odds.

The second in the planned trilogy stars everyone from the first, from Jennifer Lawrence to Stanley Tucci.  Joining the cast in this sequel are Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, and Amanda Plummer.  It’s set for a wide release on November 22nd, 2013.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
